Who Needs a Printed Score Sheet?

Anyone running a full table. Mexican Train scoring is simple, but tracking it across 13 rounds and a crowd is where napkin math falls apart. This sheet is built for:

• Senior centers and activity groups — activity directors can print a stack once and have scoring handled for the season.
• Big family gatherings — holidays are exactly when 7 or 8 people squeeze around the table and someone’s phone calculator gives up.

How Does the Round and Engine Column Work?

Each row is one round, labeled with the engine that starts it: 12-12 for round 1, then 11-11, and so on down to 0-0 (the double-blank) in round 13. When a round ends, write each player’s score in their column on that row. Down the sheet you go, one row per round, and the engine labels double as a built-in reminder of which domino to pull for the next round’s station.

At the bottom, total each column. Lowest total wins.

Scoring Quick Reference

The sheet includes a scoring summary box, but here’s the short version:

• The player who goes out scores 0 for the round.
• Everyone else scores the sum of the pips on the tiles left in their hand.
• Lowest cumulative total after the final round wins the game.
• If the game ends tied, the most commonly cited tiebreaker is whoever won the most rounds (scored the most zeros).
• Double-blank: standard scoring counts every pip, so the 0-0 tile is worth nothing. A popular house rule — borrowed from Chicken Foot — makes it worth 50 points instead. The sheet notes this house rule explicitly so your table can pick one before round 1 and avoid the argument at round 13.
